Pinaki Bhattacharya is a Bangladeshi writer, physician, blogger, and human rights activist, known for his outspoken stance on political and social issues. Born on March 1, 1967, he is the son of Shyamal Bhattacharya, a respected teacher and cultural figure in Bogura. He earned his MBBS from Rajshahi Medical College and later completed an MBA from Sorbonne Business School in Paris, where he is currently pursuing a PhD in sustainability. Professionally, he works in marketing at a leading French multinational company. Pinaki has authored 19 books on the political history, society, and human rights of Bangladesh. His first novel, Phulkumari: The Tale of a Refugee and a Rat in Pandemic Paris (2025), became an Amazon bestseller. He was actively involved in major democratic movements in Bangladesh, including the 1990 mass uprising, the 2013 Shahbagh protests, and the 2018 student movement for road safety. Due to his social media activism criticizing government corruption and human rights abuses, he faced threats and harassment, eventually seeking political asylum in France in 2019. He now resides in Paris and continues to influence public opinion through his widely followed YouTube channel, as well as Facebook and Twitter.
