Smugglers nabbed with gold
Staff correspondent: Five smugglers with 100kg
of gold were arrested last night at the Indian International Airport. The
smugglers are two Thai nationals and three and three are Indian.
The customs officials on
duty suspected the smugglers while passing through the checking. On
investigation, they admitted that they have gold bars bound with their legs
under their cloths. They came from Singapore on Thai Airways flight. They also
said that they smuggled gold and other forbidden materials to India by managing
some of the corrupt officials at the airport.
The smugglers have been
handed over to the police for further interrogation. A case has been filed with
Airport Police Station in this regard.
