Climate change is one of the most urgent and critical global issues facing humanity today. It refers to the long-term alteration of temperature and typical weather patterns in a place. Due to increased levels of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide—mostly from human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial pollution—the Earth’s climate is warming rapidly. This global warming is leading to the melting of polar ice caps, rising sea levels, frequent droughts, floods, and more extreme weather events around the world. In Bangladesh, the effects of climate change are especially alarming. As a low-lying deltaic country, it is highly vulnerable to sea level rise, coastal erosion, salinity intrusion, and tropical cyclones. These issues directly affect agriculture, water resources, biodiversity, and the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. To combat climate change, we need immediate action at both local and global levels—such as using renewable energy, conserving forests, reducing emissions, and raising awareness among the public. If we do not act now, the damage could become irreversible. Fighting climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is a human survival issue.
