Elizabeth Berkley Returns to the Spotlight at Paris Fashion Week, Celebrating 30 Years of Showgirls
Paris, France – October 2025 — The original showgirl is back in the spotlight. Elizabeth Berkley, who cemented her place in pop culture history with her provocative and polarizing role as Nomi Malone in Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls (1995), made a triumphant fashion statement this week at Paris Fashion Week Spring 2026. Her attendance at the Mugler show marked not just a stylish red carpet moment, but the continuation of a powerful career resurgence 30 years in the making.
Berkley, whose character in Showgirls delivered iconic one-liners like “It’s a Versayce!”, has watched the once-criticized film evolve into a cult classic—thanks in large part to its devoted LGBTQ+ fanbase. Now, she’s embracing her past with pride, while also stepping confidently into the future of fashion and film.
From Cult Classic to Couture Muse
Three decades after Showgirls first premiered—and nearly ended her Hollywood career—Berkley’s iconic role is now being re-evaluated with admiration and cultural significance.
“Throughout the years, fans have come up to me to tell me what my character, Nomi, and her strength has given them,” Berkley told Vogue. “I’m grateful that it has found its way into pop culture. The LGBTQ+ community has really been the champion for this film—they got it from the beginning.”
This week, she’s not just revisiting the past—she’s being embraced by the present. On October 9, Berkley was a VIP front row guest at the Mugler Spring 2026 runway show, an event that resonated perfectly with her Showgirls legacy. The collection, crafted by newly appointed creative director Miguel Castro Freitas, drew heavily from the glamour of retro cinema—echoing themes that have followed Berkley throughout her career.
“Every look in the show felt like a specific character,” Berkley said of the Mugler presentation. “Each embodied a different feeling and energy. They all celebrated a different aspect of being a modern woman—there was strength and vulnerability.”
A Mugler Look That Stole the Show
Though initially slated to wear a custom Mugler gown, Berkley ultimately found her show-stopping moment in an unexpected structured suit pulled straight from the fitting room rack.
“We saw this suiting hanging on the rack, and I tried it on just to see,” Berkley revealed. “It was the perfect strong silhouette—it looked like it had been made for me. Everyone in the room gasped. It was a no-brainer.”
To complete the look, the Mugler team added sheer gloves, fashion-forward stockings, and a single chandelier earring, creating a perfectly curated mix of tailored edge and femme glamour. The asymmetrical accessory choice, according to Berkley, was a subtle nod to her Showgirl roots.
“The one earring was so chic and unique—I loved the perfectly-imperfect asymmetry.”
So taken by the outfit, Berkley wore it straight to lunch at L'Avenue, turning heads with her cinematic style.
A Designer Date Night with Greg Lauren
Berkley’s show-day look wasn’t the only personal highlight. She was joined by her husband, Greg Lauren—a designer, artist, and nephew of Ralph Lauren—who paid tribute to her most iconic role by wearing a custom-made T-shirt featuring Nomi Malone’s face.
“When Greg heard what the inspiration for Miguel’s show was, he wanted to honor that,” she said. “It was really touching. It was a gift to get to go together.”
Although she has attended Greg’s own fashion shows in the past, this event marked Berkley’s first official Paris Fashion Week appearance as a designer’s guest—and her star power was undeniable.
The Showgirl Renaissance
The Mugler appearance is part of a larger career renaissance for Berkley. In addition to her upcoming projects, she’s also celebrating Showgirls' legacy in new and exciting ways.
On October 9, the same day as the Mugler show, Berkley hosted a special anniversary event in Austin, Texas, in partnership with Live Nation—a tribute to the film that has endured the test of time.
She’s also riding the wave of renewed interest in all things showgirl, with Taylor Swift set to drop a new album titled The Life of a Showgirl. As a self-proclaimed Swiftie, Berkley couldn’t be more excited.
“I love Taylor,” she said. “We have her on in the house all the time because my son and his best friends love her—we are a Swiftie family.”
What’s Next for Berkley?
Beyond the fashion scene, Berkley has multiple acting projects lined up for release. She stars in Shell, a new horror film featuring Kate Hudson and Elisabeth Moss, which premieres this week.
She’ll also appear in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming legal drama, All’s Fair, alongside Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, and Sarah Paulson.
“Talk about powerful women,” she said of her co-stars. “The fashion is stunning. Wearing what I wore today would’ve been perfect for the show!”
A Comeback with Class and Camp
As Paris Fashion Week wrapped its Spring 2026 runways, few moments matched the unexpected magic of Elizabeth Berkley’s reappearance. From cult film icon to front-row muse, Berkley has reclaimed her narrative with poise, humor, and the same fierce spirit that made Nomi Malone unforgettable.
The message is clear: every showgirl has her moment—and Elizabeth Berkley is having hers now.
