The Prison of Madhyapuri | The Mysterious Disappearance of Uncle Aziz

Dear listeners,

The incident I am about to share with you was sent to us by a man named Manik.

He is from Sardarpara village, in Bhogdangga Union of Kurigram Sadar Upazila, Bangladesh.

Manik shared an extremely strange and mysterious incident with us.

But before we begin, there is one person you need to know about.

His name is Mohammad Abdul Aziz.

Manik affectionately calls him uncle Aziz, and we will also refer to him by that name throughout the story.

Uncle Aziz has a small family.

He has one son and one daughter.

His daughter is married, while his son is still studying.

Uncle Aziz doesn't have a fixed profession.

He works according to the season.

When it is rice season, he works with rice.

When it is jute season, he works with jute.

When potatoes are in season, he gets involved in the potato business.

Basically, he does whatever seasonal business is available.

And according to the people who know him, he is a good and helpful man.

But there was something unusual about uncle Aziz.

People in the village believed that he possessed a strange ability.

He could somehow bring sweets without buying them from a shop.

And he would sometimes give those sweets to people for free.

Many villagers had reportedly experienced this themselves.

Manik was curious.

So he once asked his mother,

"Mom, is this really true?"

"Can uncle Aziz actually bring sweets like that?"

His mother then told him about something she had personally witnessed.

When she had first married into the village, Manik's father had told her about uncle Aziz.

He had said,

"There is a man in this village named Aziz. Sometimes he gives people sweets for free."

"But he doesn't do it all the time."

"Only when he is in a good mood, has some money, and his business is going well."

"If someone asks him for sweets at the right time, he brings them."

But the strange part was...

He didn't simply go to a shop and buy them.

He had his own mysterious method.

One day, shortly after Manik's mother had moved into the village, she went outside with her husband.

And as soon as they left the house...

They met uncle Aziz.

Manik's father reminded her,

"Remember what I told you?"

"This is uncle Aziz."

"He is the one who brings sweets in that strange way."

Manik's mother immediately smiled and said,

"Aziz Bhai, I'm new to this village."

"I'm the new bride here."

"Won't you give me some sweets?"

Uncle Aziz laughed.

"You are the new bride of our village."

"And you're asking me for sweets?"

"How can I refuse?"

"But I'm far away from home right now."

"There is a way to bring them."

"I'll have to get into the pond."

"But it's winter."

"If I come out of the pond soaking wet, how will I go home?"

"Bring me a lungi and a towel."

"Then I'll see what I can do."

Since they were close to home, Manik's parents quickly went back and brought him a lungi and a towel.

Uncle Aziz asked them to keep the towel nearby so he could dry himself after coming out of the water.

Then...

He entered the pond.

Manik's mother and father watched carefully.

Uncle Aziz walked deeper into the water.

First to his knees.

Then to his waist.

Once he reached waist-deep water...

He began quietly muttering something.

Manik's mother watched him closely.

But for Manik's father, none of this was particularly surprising.

He was born in the village.

He already knew about uncle Aziz's strange ability.

For about five minutes, uncle Aziz continued murmuring something.

Then...

He suddenly submerged himself completely underwater.

He remained underwater for approximately five seconds.

And then he came back up.

But when he emerged...

He was holding a box of sweets.

A paper box.

He had apparently brought it from underwater.

And yet...

The box was completely dry.

Not a single drop of water had touched it.

Uncle Aziz handed the box to Manik's mother.

"Here you go, daughter-in-law."

"Have some sweets."

He then took the towel, dried himself, and walked away.

Manik's mother had expected something extraordinary.

Perhaps sweets from another world.

Maybe sweets belonging to the Jinn.

But when she opened the box...

The sweets looked perfectly ordinary.

And they tasted perfectly normal too.

They were delicious.

But there was nothing supernatural about their appearance or taste.

Still...

The way they had appeared remained a mystery.

When Manik heard this story from his mother, he became interested.

He decided that one day he would ask uncle Aziz for sweets himself.

His mother warned him,

"That's fine."

"You can ask him."

"But make sure he's in a good mood."

"He doesn't do it all the time."

Uncle Aziz was generally respected throughout the village.

People considered him humble.

Helpful.

Kind-hearted.

He was not known for losing his temper easily.

But in late January of 2007...

Something happened.

Something that would change everything.

It was around eight o'clock at night when uncle Aziz's wife suddenly came to Manik's house.

She was extremely worried.

She said,

"Aziz has gone out for business."

"He still hasn't come home."

"He never stays out this late."

Eight o'clock may not sound particularly late.

But uncle Aziz normally returned much earlier.

And there was another problem.

His son was also away at college.

His daughter was married and living at her husband's house.

So his wife had come to inform the family and ask for help.

The son was contacted.

He lived in a college hostel and soon returned.

His daughter was also informed.

She came back as well.

Before long, the news had spread throughout the neighborhood.

Uncle Aziz was missing.

Everyone waited through the night.

But morning came...

And there was still no sign of him.

Nobody knew where he had gone.

People became increasingly worried.

After all, uncle Aziz was known as a kind and helpful man.

His sudden disappearance made no sense.

But there was something else that made the situation even more mysterious.

Many people knew about his strange ability to obtain sweets.

The way he would disappear underwater and somehow return with a dry box of sweets.

So the family began wondering whether there could be something supernatural behind his disappearance.

The villagers gathered together.

They discussed what they could do.

Eventually, someone suggested calling a local spiritual healer named Shanu Kabiraj.

Everyone agreed.

Shanu Kabiraj was contacted.

However, he was busy that day.

He said he would come in the afternoon.

When he finally arrived, the family explained everything.

Shanu Kabiraj carefully walked around uncle Aziz's entire property.

He observed the surroundings.

He examined the house.

He entered the room where uncle Aziz normally slept.

He looked around carefully.

Then he stepped outside.

After thinking for a while, he said something disturbing.

He claimed that he had several powerful Jinn who assisted him.

He said he would send them to search for uncle Aziz.

If they found anything...

They would report back.

But Shanu Kabiraj admitted that he himself couldn't determine what had happened.

There was nothing obvious inside the house.

No clear sign.

No clue.

So he decided to rely on his alleged spiritual helpers.

The family waited anxiously.

Then, the following evening...

Shanu Kabiraj suddenly arrived at uncle Aziz's house.

He called the neighbors together.

He said he had something important to tell them.

And then he revealed the news.

They had found uncle Aziz.

According to Shanu Kabiraj, his spiritual helper had brought back information.

Uncle Aziz was supposedly being held somewhere called...

Madhyapuri.

A place described as a prison belonging to the Jinn.

The family was shocked.

Why would uncle Aziz be imprisoned by the Jinn?

He was a good man.

A humble man.

A helpful man.

What could he possibly have done?

But according to Shanu Kabiraj...

Uncle Aziz had committed a serious offense.

He had been taken to a place called Madhyapuri and locked inside a prison there.

The family broke down.

His wife, son, and daughter begged Shanu Kabiraj to bring him back.

"Please."

"Whatever you have to do..."

"Bring him home."

Shanu Kabiraj agreed to try.

But he warned them that this was beyond the ability of ordinary humans.

He would have to communicate with the Jinn.

After consulting with his alleged spiritual helpers, Shanu Kabiraj said something strange.

They needed a young man whose astrological sign was Libra.

A Jinn would have to be summoned through him.

After searching, they found a young man named Sabuj Mia.

He was a Libra.

Sabuj was brought to uncle Aziz's house.

Everyone gathered around.

Shanu Kabiraj sat in front of him and began quietly reciting something.

Ten minutes passed.

Then...

Sabuj suddenly raised his head.

His behavior changed.

The Jinn, according to Shanu Kabiraj, had supposedly entered his body.

The figure inside Sabuj greeted everyone.

"Assalamu Alaikum."

Everyone responded.

Then the Jinn began explaining what had happened to uncle Aziz.

According to the account...

Uncle Aziz had been returning home after finishing his business.

It was getting dark.

While walking home, he suddenly encountered a stranger.

The stranger had a horrifying appearance.

His skin was extremely dark.

His body was thin and skeletal.

His height was similar to an ordinary human being.

The stranger looked at uncle Aziz and said,

"Aziz..."

"Please give me some sweets."

"I haven't eaten sweets in a long time."

"I really want to taste your sweets."

But uncle Aziz was tired.

And apparently, he was already in a bad mood.

Instead of responding kindly, he became angry.

He looked at the stranger and said,

"You want sweets?"

"Look at yourself!"

"You're nothing but skin and bones."

"What are you going to do with sweets?"

"And look at your face!"

"Why should I give sweets to someone like you?"

"Go away."

"I don't give sweets to just anyone."

The stranger didn't leave immediately.

He pleaded again.

"My face is ugly."

"My body is thin."

"But what does that matter?"

"I really want to taste the sweets from your hands."

"Please give me some."

At first, the stranger spoke casually.

Then his tone became more respectful.

"Please give me some sweets."

"I really want them."

"Otherwise, I won't let you leave."

"You must give me sweets."

But uncle Aziz became furious.

And then...

He slapped the stranger across the face.

But that wasn't all.

Because he found the man's appearance disgusting...

He reportedly spat on his body.

The stranger stood there in silence.

Then he looked deeply hurt.

He said,

"Was that really necessary?"

"Would you treat another human being like this?"

"Just because I look different?"

"You insulted me."

"You hit me."

"And you spat on me."

"You will answer for this."

"Not now..."

"But in time."

The stranger then disappeared.

And shortly afterward...

Uncle Aziz's trouble began.

According to the Jinn's account, uncle Aziz was made to lose his way.

He would walk in one direction...

Then somehow find himself back at the same place.

Again.

And again.

And again.

He was trapped in a strange loop.

Other people couldn't see him.

He couldn't find his way home.

Eventually...

Uncle Aziz lost consciousness.

And then, according to the story...

The Jinn took him to a place called Madhyapuri.

Nobody knew where this place was.

The Jinn took uncle Aziz directly to their leader.

There, the stranger explained everything.

He said uncle Aziz had insulted him.

He had spat on him.

He had struck him.

He had humiliated him because of his appearance.

The Jinn reportedly said,

"I could have punished him myself."

"But I didn't."

"I brought him to you."

"You decide his punishment."

The leader then ordered that uncle Aziz be imprisoned.

And that was how he supposedly ended up inside one of the prisons of Madhyapuri...

A place where, according to the story, ordinary humans could never enter.

But there was a way out.

The Jinn explained that the leader could not simply release uncle Aziz.

The insult had been directed at that particular Jinn.

So if that Jinn forgave uncle Aziz...

The leader would release him.

But someone had to mediate.

Shanu Kabiraj asked his spiritual helper to take responsibility for the negotiation.

The Jinn replied that speaking to the leader would be pointless.

The real conversation had to happen with the Jinn who had been insulted.

If that Jinn withdrew his complaint...

Uncle Aziz could be released.

The supposed Jinn then left Sabuj's body.

According to the story, he went to meet the offended Jinn.

But the Jinn was still furious.

He could not forget the humiliation.

Uncle Aziz had called him ugly.

He had insulted his appearance.

He had spat on him.

And he had hit him.

Still, the mediator tried to explain.

He told him that uncle Aziz was normally a good man.

A humble man.

A helpful man.

He wasn't always like this.

Perhaps he had simply been tired.

Perhaps he had been in a bad mood.

People don't always behave the same way every day.

So the mediator asked him to forgive uncle Aziz.

Eventually...

The Jinn agreed.

"Fine."

"I will forgive him."

"But I want something in return."

The Jinn explained that he had asked uncle Aziz for something...

And Aziz had refused.

If his demands were fulfilled...

He would withdraw his complaint.

The conditions were strange.

He demanded three goats.

The goats had to be slaughtered.

The meat had to be cut into pieces.

But the blood had to be kept completely separate.

And he demanded twenty kilograms of sweets.

Everything had to be placed at a specific location.

And it had to be done at exactly two o'clock in the morning.

Uncle Aziz's family agreed.

Even though they didn't have enough money, they somehow arranged everything.

Three goats were purchased.

They were slaughtered.

The meat was prepared.

The blood was separated.

Twenty kilograms of sweets were collected.

And everything was taken to the specified location.

Uncle Aziz's son carried out the task in the presence of Shanu Kabiraj.

Then everyone returned home.

Shanu Kabiraj instructed them to stay inside.

"Wait."

"Don't go outside."

So everyone waited.

They waited...

And waited...

Until shortly before three in the morning.

Then suddenly...

THUD!

A heavy sound came from the courtyard.

Everyone rushed outside.

And there...

Lying in the middle of the courtyard...

Was uncle Aziz.

He was unconscious.

His appearance had changed dramatically.

Even after only a few days, he looked extremely weak and exhausted.

His face looked worn.

His body had become thin and frail.

The family immediately rushed to him.

Eventually, he regained consciousness.

When they asked him what had happened...

Uncle Aziz told them essentially the same story.

He had encountered a strange man.

He had insulted him.

He had struck him.

He had spat on him.

And after that...

He had somehow become trapped and taken away.

He had been held somewhere he could not escape from.

And eventually...

He was brought back.

By the mercy of Allah, no further major incident happened to uncle Aziz after that.

And perhaps the most fortunate part of the story is that he came home alive.

Uncle Aziz himself did not directly send this story to us.

According to Manik, it was uncle Aziz's son who helped provide the later details and helped the story reach us.

So, dear listeners...

What can we take away from this strange story?

One lesson stands out.

According to many accounts of supernatural encounters, Jinn are sometimes said to have interactions involving food.

Sweets.

Fish.

And other things.

But uncle Aziz did not recognize the stranger as a Jinn.

He believed he was simply dealing with an ordinary human being.

Perhaps the stranger really did appear completely human.

But regardless of what he was...

There was one thing uncle Aziz should never have done.

He insulted him because of his appearance.

He mocked his dark skin.

He ridiculed his thin body.

Then he struck him.

And finally...

He spat on him.

That final act of humiliation was perhaps the most serious part of the encounter.

Of course, we cannot independently verify the supernatural explanation behind this story.

But there is still a very real lesson here.

We should never humiliate another person simply because they look different from us.

We never know what someone is going through.

And we never know what consequences our actions may bring.

Uncle Aziz was reportedly a kind and generous man.

But on that particular day, his temper got the better of him.

And according to this account...

That single moment of anger led to an experience that almost cost him everything.

Thankfully...

He was eventually brought home.

And by the mercy of Allah...

He survived.

Dear listeners,

That was the story of uncle Aziz and the mysterious prison of Madhyapuri.

A story of a strange encounter...

A mysterious disappearance...

And a place that, according to the account, lies somewhere beyond the world we know.

Thank you to Manik for sharing this extraordinary story with us.

And until our next story...

Stay safe.

Because sometimes...

The stranger you meet on a dark road may not be human at all.
