| The Seven Jinn | A Terrifying Family Curse That Lasted for Decades | Real Horror Story |
Dear readers, welcome back.
The incident I’m about to share with you was sent to us by a man named Sagar.
His family home is in South Bhuterdiya Village, Kedarpur Union, Babuganj Upazila, Barishal, Bangladesh.
Sagar currently lives in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, because of his job.
He tells us that whenever he travels from Dhanmondi to his office in Banani in the morning, he listens to our horror stories through his headphones for the entire journey. And when his workday ends, those stories accompany him all the way back home.
Many of our listeners do the same.
Some people living in the Middle East tell us that they listen to our stories during long drives between cities. Others in Bangladesh play our horror podcasts in the background while doing physically demanding work.
I have even witnessed something like this myself.
Once, while passing through Nilkhet in Dhaka, I saw several workers sitting together in a small book-binding workshop. They were working continuously while listening very attentively to horror stories.
For several minutes, I simply stood there and watched them.
They were so focused that apart from the sounds of their work and the horror narration playing in the background, there was hardly any other sound.
It was a strange sight—but also a reminder of how widely these stories have become a companion to people's daily lives.
Alhamdulillah, we are deeply grateful to Allah, and we are equally grateful to all of you for continuing to listen and share your experiences with us.
Now, dear listeners…
Let us get into today's story.
And this one is not about something that happened to Sagar himself.
According to his account, the strange events began with his mother when she was only eight or nine years old, sometime in the early 1980s.
At that time, she had gone to visit her paternal aunt's house in an area of Barishal.
We are deliberately not mentioning the exact village.
The aunt's house was located in an area where the Hindu community was the majority, while comparatively fewer Muslim families lived there.
And because of the community's traditions, there was a cremation ground nearby.
The aunt's house was only about a two-minute walk from that cremation ground.
Bodies were sometimes cremated there.
Back then, the village was very different from what it is today.
Houses were often made with bamboo poles and roofs covered with leaves or other simple materials.
One night, during storm season, a powerful storm suddenly struck the village.
The wind became violent.
Heavy rain began pouring down.
And then, the roof of the aunt's house was blown away.
It wasn't midnight.
It was probably around eight or nine in the evening.
But in a rural village at that time, on a stormy night, eight o'clock could feel extremely late.
The family suddenly found themselves exposed to the storm.
They had to get somewhere safe.
The aunt, her son, and Sagar's mother—who was still just a little girl—decided to run to a nearby house for shelter.
But there was a problem.
The easiest and safest path to that house went directly past the cremation ground.
The other routes were rough, uneven, and difficult to cross during a violent storm.
So they took the familiar path.
Because Sagar's mother was still very young, she couldn't keep up with them on foot.
Her aunt carried her for a while.
When the aunt became exhausted, her son took the little girl into his arms.
Then they switched again.
They continued like this, carrying her and running through the storm.
But Sagar's mother wasn't asleep.
She was awake.
And the road itself was unfamiliar to her.
So she remained in their arms as they hurried toward the neighboring house.
Then…
As they approached the cremation ground…
Something happened.
Suddenly, the little girl let out a terrifying scream.
She screamed with all her strength.
And while still in her aunt's arms, she suddenly lost consciousness.
The family panicked.
They carried her to the nearby Hindu neighbor's house and took shelter there.
After some time, she regained consciousness.
Naturally, everyone wanted to know what had frightened her so badly.
They asked her,
“Why did you scream?”
The little girl then told them something that terrified everyone.
She said that near the cremation ground, she had seen six or seven figures dressed entirely in white.
They were standing there…
And they were motioning toward her with their hands.
Calling her.
Calling her to come closer.
The family didn't know what to make of it.
Eventually, they had a local religious scholar recite prayers over water, which she drank.
After that, everything appeared to return to normal.
Everyone assumed the incident was over.
But it wasn't.
For about a year, nothing major happened.
Then strange problems began appearing in her life.
One of the biggest problems was that she could no longer safely visit a house where someone had recently died.
Whenever she went to a deceased person's home, strange physical and behavioral problems would begin afterward.
But there was another, even more disturbing pattern.
If a recently married woman appeared in front of her while not in a state of ablution, she would suddenly become extremely aggressive.
She would sometimes leap toward the woman, grab her by the throat, and even lift her off the ground.
She would scream.
Shout.
And behave as though she had completely lost control.
But strangely, she didn't attack other women.
The problem seemed to occur specifically with recently married women.
The family eventually began searching for someone who could treat her.
They found a local spiritual healer, or Kabiraj, and had her treated through religious recitations.
After that, she became completely normal again.
Years passed.
Sagar's mother eventually got married.
Sagar himself was born.
Growing up, he occasionally heard stories about the strange problems his mother had experienced as a child.
But he had never personally witnessed anything.
Until one day…
When Sagar was around fourth or fifth grade.
His primary school was holding its annual sports competition.
Sagar was participating in the event.
Suddenly, two of his paternal aunts came running to him.
They told him,
“Come home quickly. Your mother is sick.”
Sagar immediately rushed home.
When he arrived, he saw his mother lying on a bed.
She was unconscious.
Her teeth were clenched tightly together.
His grandfather was sitting beside her.
And everyone in the room was unusually quiet.
Then his grandfather explained what had happened.
Even after her marriage, Sagar's mother would occasionally experience these strange episodes.
Usually, when someone recited verses from the Quran associated with Ruqyah and blew gently over her, she would calm down.
But that day, something much more violent had happened.
One of Sagar's uncles had recently gotten married.
And his new wife had apparently appeared in front of Sagar's mother without ablution.
According to the family, Sagar's mother immediately attacked her.
She grabbed the woman's hair and dragged her.
She screamed at her.
She used abusive language.
Then she grabbed the woman's throat and began lifting and throwing her around.
The newly married woman was badly frightened.
She screamed,
“I'm going to die! She's going to kill me!”
Hearing the screams, everyone rushed over.
And what they saw was terrifying.
Sagar's mother's eyes were reportedly bright red.
She looked completely different.
Then she turned toward Sagar's grandfather and said,
“Why did this woman come in front of me? Don't you know I can't tolerate this?”
The grandfather reportedly apologized repeatedly.
He told her,
“It won't happen again. Please forgive us.”
But suddenly…
She grabbed him by the throat.
And with one hand, she lifted him off the ground.
The old man struggled desperately to free himself.
Other family members rushed forward and tried to pull her hand away.
But they couldn't.
According to Sagar, it seemed as though his mother's body had suddenly gained the strength of four or five grown men.
Then, just as suddenly…
She collapsed.
She lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
Only then did her grip release.
The family immediately brought in the same spiritual healer who had treated her in the past.
This time, according to the account, the healer attempted to communicate with the supposed Jinn affecting her.
And for the first time, the family claimed to learn what had actually happened all those years ago.
According to the healer's account…
There had been seven Jinn at the cremation ground that night.
And those seven entities had followed Sagar's mother from that night onward.
Six of them were supposedly harmful.
One was supposedly benevolent.
According to the explanation given to the family, the six harmful Jinn would attempt to influence or harm her under specific circumstances.
There were apparently two main triggers.
The first was when she visited a house where someone had recently died.
The second was when a recently married woman appeared before her without ablution.
At those moments, the six Jinn were supposedly able to gain greater influence over her.
The seventh Jinn, who was described as protective, supposedly tried to defend her.
But because it was alone against six others, it could not always protect her.
And that, according to the healer, was why these violent episodes occurred.
As for the attack that day, the healer claimed something different had happened.
He said that the protective Jinn itself had become enraged.
After supposedly protecting Sagar's mother for so many years, it had finally lost control and attacked.
The healer then gave the family instructions about how she should live.
He advised her to remain clean and spiritually pure, to stay away from places considered impure, avoid impure activities, and avoid situations involving people who might trigger the problem.
The healer also reportedly warned the family that separating the supposed Jinn from her would be extremely difficult—and potentially dangerous.
So the family decided that preventing the episodes was safer than attempting to remove them completely.
After that incident, things became quiet again.
Another seven years passed.
By then, Sagar had recently entered college.
One day, he came home and saw his mother sitting there, apparently relaxed, pulling lice from her hair.
Some of his aunts were nearby, laughing.
Sagar asked,
“Auntie, what happened?”
But they didn't explain.
Instead, they told him to eat something and rest.
Sagar didn't understand what was happening.
So he prepared some food on a plate and took it to his mother.
He said,
“Mom, here. Eat this.”
His mother suddenly looked at him with a terrifying expression.
Then she pointed toward a boti—the traditional curved cutting blade used in many Bangladeshi kitchens.
And she said,
“Do you see this boti? I'll strike you with it and cut your head straight off.”
Sagar was terrified.
His mother had never spoken to him like that before.
He immediately ran to his aunts and asked,
“What happened? Why is Mom talking like this?”
Then they explained.
Around eleven that morning, Sagar's mother had gone into the garden to collect dry leaves.
While she was there, she saw the wife of a man named Ibrahim, whom Sagar respectfully called Ibrahim Uncle.
According to the family, Sagar's mother immediately charged toward Ibrahim Uncle's wife.
The woman became frightened and ran home.
She locked herself inside the house.
And from that moment onward, Sagar's mother began behaving strangely again.
About an hour later, she reportedly returned to normal on her own.
Sagar says that this particular problem still exists.
Ibrahim Uncle had married recently, and naturally, it isn't possible for his wife to remain in a state of ablution at every moment.
So whenever Sagar's mother happens to see her under those circumstances, the strange reaction can occur.
Because of this, the family continues to be extremely careful around her.
Sagar's mother also tries to remain cautious herself.
Thankfully, according to Sagar, apart from this particular issue, she does not experience these problems on a regular basis.
And that brings us to the end of this disturbing story.
Dear listeners…
Think about what happened that night decades ago.
A little girl was visiting her aunt.
A sudden storm destroyed the roof of their home.
They had no choice but to leave the house and seek shelter elsewhere.
The safest available route happened to pass beside a cremation ground.
And according to the account, that was where everything began.
Sometimes in life, we find ourselves facing situations we never expected.
We may not be responsible for how those situations begin.
But as Muslims, we can take precautions and seek Allah's protection.
Before leaving the house, one may recite:
“A'udhu bi kalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq.”
By the will of Allah, we ask Him to protect us from sudden harm, danger, and anything unseen that may cause us fear.
May Allah protect all of us and our families from every kind of evil and unexpected danger.
Dear listeners…
That was today's story.
And once again, our sincere thanks to Sagar for sharing this disturbing experience with us.
Until the next story…
Stay safe.
And may Allah protect you all.
