A Visit to A Zoo

It was January 10, 2007. I, along with some of my friends, paid a visit to the Mirpur Zoo. The day was bright and pleasant. We started from our school at 2 p.m. and reached the zoo gate around 2:30 p.m. There was a large crowd gathered at the entrance. We bought our tickets and entered the zoo.

At first, we went to see the monkeys, who were chattering and jumping from one bar to another. We threw some peanuts at them and enjoyed watching how joyfully they ate them. Next, we visited the enclosure of the Royal Bengal Tigers. It was a well-protected area. We saw several tigers resting in their iron cages. They looked majestic and fierce, staring at us with sharp eyes.

After that, we moved on to the lions. They seemed restless, pacing back and forth in the cage and letting out frequent roars that were both horrible and frightening. Then we went to see the rhinoceros, which looked heavy and dangerous. It was walking slowly through muddy water.

Our attention was then drawn to a group of beautiful deer with brown spots. Their large, gentle eyes were especially attractive to me. Soon after, we approached a cage where there were two large snakes. Their appearance sent a chill down my spine. They seemed to be asleep, but I couldn’t help imagining what might happen if one of them got loose—it would surely coil around someone and crush their bones.

Later, we visited the birdhouse, which was filled with a variety of birds. Their chirping and fluttering brought great joy to us. The birds came in different shapes, sizes, and colors. We also saw other land and aquatic animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees, and crocodiles.

It took us more than two hours to go around the entire zoo. We left the zoo with cheerful hearts, having gained a lot of experience and knowledge about many birds and animals.
