Chappell Roan Launches the Midwest Princess Project to Support Trans Youth and LGBTQ+ Communities
Rising pop sensation and outspoken LGBTQ+ advocate Chappell Roan has taken her activism to a new level with the launch of the Midwest Princess Project, a philanthropic initiative aimed at supporting transgender youth and LGBTQ+ community organizations across the United States.
The 26-year-old singer, who has become a defining queer voice in modern pop music, announced the project via Instagram on Thursday, revealing that the new fund — named after her acclaimed debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess — had already raised $400,000.
Those funds, Roan explained, came directly from her 2025 “Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things” tour, where one dollar from every ticket sold was donated to the Project.
“Those funds will be donated to incredible organizations making a positive impact for trans youth in their communities,” Roan wrote in her post. “Outside of transaction fees and limited costs for my team to manage the project, we have committed to donating every dollar possible to the organizations that need it most.”
Supporting Local LGBTQ+ Organizations Nationwide
According to the project’s official website, the Midwest Princess Project has already distributed its first round of donations to six LGBTQ+ organizations across New York, Los Angeles, and Missouri — all cities that featured prominently on Roan’s 2025 tour.
The beneficiaries include:
- The Center and The Ali Forney Center in New York City
- The Trans Wellness Center and The TransLatin@ Coalition in Los Angeles
- The GLO Center and The Center Project in Missouri, Roan’s home state
“These local organizations support the LGBTQ+ community and provide specific programming and resources for trans youth,” the website states. “Our mission is to uplift local voices, protect queer youth, and invest in community-based support systems that make a tangible difference.”
The Project also allows fans and supporters to make direct contributions through GiveButter, a fundraising platform that enables ongoing donations.
A Commitment to Political Advocacy
Known for her theatrical performances, unapologetically queer identity, and activism, Chappell Roan has long used her platform to champion social causes. During a recent stop in Los Angeles on her Visions tour, she made headlines for her outspoken condemnation of immigration enforcement, declaring “Fuck ICE forever” to the cheers of her audience.
Roan’s activism often mirrors her art — bold, colorful, and deeply rooted in personal experience. Her debut album’s themes of identity, freedom, and Midwest pride resonate with queer youth who see themselves in her story. The creation of the Midwest Princess Project feels like a natural extension of that ethos, transforming her musical message into actionable support.
Partnering with Catalyst Philanthropy Fund
The Midwest Princess Project operates under the umbrella of the Catalyst Philanthropy Fund, a fiscal sponsorship nonprofit that allows smaller or emerging charitable projects to accept tax-deductible donations without having to formally incorporate as nonprofits.
This partnership allows Roan’s team to focus on impact rather than bureaucracy, ensuring that the funds reach grassroots organizations quickly and transparently.
“By leveraging Catalyst’s infrastructure, we’re able to prioritize local impact and minimize overhead,” the Project’s website explains.
Following in the Footsteps of Other Philanthropic Artists
Roan joins a growing number of pop artists who are redirecting their touring success into social impact initiatives. Last year, fellow pop star Sabrina Carpenter launched The Sabrina Carpenter Fund, which surpassed $1 million in donations by directing a dollar from each concert ticket to global causes. Carpenter’s fund has since supported the Transgender Law Center, Rainbow Railroad, and PAPYRUS, a U.K.-based suicide prevention charity that welcomes LGBTQ+ youth.
Earlier this month, the Transgender Law Center thanked Carpenter for her ongoing contributions, noting that her fund directly supports the organization’s Legal Information Helpdesk and other trans rights initiatives. “Thank you, @sabrinacarpenter, for using your platform to uplift trans joy and liberation,” the TLC wrote on social media.
With her own project, Chappell Roan is now cementing herself as one of the most politically engaged and community-driven artists in modern pop — a performer whose activism extends far beyond the stage.
Empowering Trans Youth Through Music and Action
While the Midwest Princess Project is still in its early stages, its impact is already significant. Roan’s dedication to transgender youth empowerment, local LGBTQ+ organizations, and community-driven philanthropy demonstrates how musicians can turn their art into sustainable activism.
In her own words: “The Midwest Princess Project is about giving back to the people who need it most — the queer kids and trans youth who are growing up in a world that doesn’t always make them feel safe. I want them to know they are seen, loved, and supported.”
Through her voice, her music, and her generosity, Chappell Roan continues to redefine what it means to be a pop star — proving that visibility, compassion, and advocacy can coexist at the center of mainstream culture.
