| The Stranger Who Appeared Before Fajr | A Terrifying Jinn Encounter |
Dear readers,
The incident I am about to share with you was sent to us by a man named Mohammad Yasin Arafat.
Yasin is a Hafiz of the Quran and is currently studying in the Kafiya class of Dawra-e-Hadith. He is originally from Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
According to Yasin, one of his teachers inspired him to become connected with our platform and share this story with us.
But the incident itself did not happen to Yasin.
It happened to a distant relative of his, a man named Farid.
Farid was a relative from the same family lineage. He was also someone who addressed Yasin's mother as his paternal aunt.
The incident took place at Yasin's maternal grandfather's home, in an area called Khalisakuri, Nalitabari, Mymensingh.
At the time of the incident, Yasin had not even been born.
His mother was still a young girl.
Back then, around six families lived together in that area. Today, only two families reportedly remain there. Most of the others eventually moved to Dhaka for work and no longer live there permanently.
One of the families still living there was Farid's family.
Farid was a Hafiz of the Quran.
I say "was" because he is no longer the man he once was.
At that time, Farid served as both the Imam and Muazzin of the local mosque.
In those days, particularly in rural areas, it was common for the same person to both give the Adhan and lead the prayers. Hiring separate people for both responsibilities was often difficult for small mosque committees.
The mosque where Farid served was located west of Yasin's maternal grandfather's house.
The area consisted of five or six large family homes arranged almost in a line. Each house occupied a considerable amount of land and had a large courtyard.
There was significant distance between one house and another.
And the mosque was even farther away.
It took Farid approximately 15 to 20 minutes to walk there from his home.
The mosque itself stood in the middle of vast agricultural fields.
There were no houses immediately surrounding it.
In front of the mosque was a huge field.
Behind it was a narrow path used by villagers.
On the right side of the mosque was a small cemetery.
During the daytime, very few people used the narrow road behind the mosque.
And after sunset...
There was almost nothing.
No houses.
No people.
No movement.
As far as the eye could see, there was only darkness and the occasional sound of nocturnal birds.
It was in this environment that something happened to Farid one morning.
Something he would never forget.
It was sometime before the year 2000.
The exact year is unknown.
One day, following his usual routine, Farid woke up intending to go to the mosque for Fajr prayer.
However, there was one problem.
Farid did not wear a watch.
Normally, he would leave home after checking the time.
But on that particular morning, he left without knowing exactly what time it was.
When he stepped outside, he noticed a faint glow appearing on one side of the sky.
He immediately assumed that Fajr time was approaching.
He realized he had to hurry.
First, he would have to give the Adhan.
Then he would lead the prayer.
There was another road he could take to reach the mosque, but that route was much longer. It required him to walk around the fields, which would take considerably more time.
And Farid believed there was no time to waste.
So he made a decision.
Instead of taking the normal road, he walked straight through the agricultural fields, following the narrow ridges between them.
He wanted to reach the mosque as quickly as possible.
As he continued walking, he noticed something strange.
There was still a faint moonlight in the sky.
This is important.
Because Farid was walking west.
The eastern sky was beginning to brighten slightly, while the moon was still visible toward the west.
It was one of those early mornings when the moon can still be seen shortly before sunrise.
As Farid got closer to the mosque, he noticed something else.
There appeared to be several people inside the mosque.
Farid assumed that some worshippers had already arrived for Fajr prayer.
But there was something very strange about that assumption.
Because he knew the villagers.
He knew almost everyone who regularly came to the mosque.
The people who attended all five daily prayers were familiar faces.
Even those who occasionally came to the mosque were recognizable.
But Fajr prayer was different.
People almost never came that early.
Sometimes, even during Isha prayer, Farid would find himself praying alone.
So who were these people?
And where had they come from?
For some reason, that thought never properly entered Farid's mind.
He continued walking toward the mosque.
And then...
He saw them clearly.
One of the figures was enormous.
Farid estimated that the figure was approximately seven to eight feet tall.
He had an extremely long beard.
He was wearing a white Jubah.
And he appeared to be performing Wudu using something that looked like a small water container.
Nearby, another figure of similar height was sweeping the mosque.
There were other people as well.
Some were praying.
Some were engaged in Dhikr.
Everyone was busy doing something.
But there was something deeply disturbing about them.
Nobody was looking at anyone else.
Nobody spoke.
Nobody acknowledged Farid.
Nobody seemed surprised by his presence.
They simply continued doing whatever they were doing.
Farid stood there watching them.
His mind was struggling to understand what he was seeing.
Who were these people?
Where had they come from?
Why had he never seen them before?
In a rural village, especially inside a small mosque, unfamiliar faces immediately stood out.
But these people...
Farid had never seen any of them.
Not even once.
And yet they behaved as if everything was completely normal.
Farid slowly entered the mosque.
He did not disturb them.
And they did not react to him.
But after watching them for some time...
Fear began to take over.
His mind stopped working properly.
He could no longer understand what was happening.
And then suddenly...
He heard the sound of the Adhan.
But the sound was coming from somewhere far away.
Farid's mosque had no electricity.
There was no loudspeaker system there.
However, another mosque farther away had electricity and a microphone.
And at that moment, the Adhan from that distant mosque reached his ears.
The instant Farid heard the Adhan...
Everything changed.
In the blink of an eye...
The figures disappeared.
Every single one of them.
Gone.
Farid stood completely motionless.
For several moments, he could not understand what had happened.
He stood there like a statue.
Then, as his senses slowly returned, he looked around.
And suddenly he realized something terrifying.
He wasn't inside the mosque anymore.
He was standing...
inside the cemetery beside the mosque.
Farid looked around.
There was no one there.
The figures were gone.
The mosque was nearby, but its doors and windows were closed.
It was still completely dark.
And Farid was standing alone in the middle of the cemetery.
He had no idea how he had gotten there.
He didn't know whether he had walked there.
He didn't remember leaving the mosque.
All he knew was that the people he had seen were gone...
And he was completely alone.
Farid panicked.
He turned around and ran.
He ran all the way back home.
When he reached his house, he grabbed a small battery-powered handheld microphone.
These kinds of microphones were commonly used in villages at the time.
Ice cream sellers would sometimes travel from village to village using similar microphones to attract customers, even playing songs through them.
Farid took the microphone and began shouting the Adhan.
He was terrified.
He kept giving the Adhan again and again.
Hearing the sound, his relatives rushed out of their houses.
They were shocked.
They asked him,
"What happened?"
"Why are you breathing so heavily?"
"Why are you giving the Adhan at this hour?"
Farid then told them everything.
He described the strange people he had seen inside the mosque.
The enormous figures.
The man with the long beard.
The people praying.
The people performing Dhikr.
The man sweeping the mosque.
And how all of them disappeared the moment he heard the distant Adhan.
But there was another mystery.
It was still completely dark outside.
Fajr time had not even arrived yet.
So what Adhan had Farid heard?
Where had that sound come from?
Nobody could explain it.
His relatives tried to calm him down.
They told him not to be afraid.
They suggested that perhaps the figures were Jinn who had come to the mosque to pray.
They told him that there was nothing to fear and that, Insha'Allah, they would not harm him.
Farid remained sick for several days.
He received treatment, and eventually, by the mercy of Allah, he recovered physically.
But what happened afterward was far more disturbing.
Because although Farid did not appear to suffer any serious physical injury...
His life changed completely.
And not in a good way.
Farid had been a Hafiz of the Quran.
But within a short period of time, he reportedly forgot the Quran completely.
He stopped reciting it.
He also cut off his beard.
Then he became addicted to drugs and various forms of substance abuse.
Eventually, he left his position as an Imam.
He began driving a rickshaw for a living.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with driving a rickshaw. It is a lawful profession.
But the shocking part was the transformation itself.
A man who had once been a Hafiz...
A man who had served as an Imam and Muazzin...
A man who had dedicated his life to the Quran...
Had suddenly entered a completely different life.
He became involved with drugs.
He abandoned his previous religious lifestyle.
And, according to the account, he eventually forgot the Quran he had once memorized.
People offered different explanations for what happened to him.
Some believed that the strange beings he encountered at the mosque had somehow harmed him.
Others believed that the incident should never have been publicly discussed.
Perhaps, they suggested, revealing what he had seen somehow caused further problems.
But nobody was able to determine the actual reason.
Even people who later performed Ruqyah for Farid could not give a definite explanation.
They could only speculate.
Were those beings actually Jinn?
Did they do something to Farid?
Was his psychological trauma responsible for the transformation?
Or was there another reason entirely?
Nobody knows for certain.
And perhaps that is what makes this story so disturbing.
According to Yasin Arafat, Farid is still alive.
Yasin says he spoke with him about the incident.
Farid reportedly still behaves abnormally from time to time.
Apart from that, he continues living his life in the same condition.
Dear listeners...
We never want an incident like this to happen to anyone.
At the same time, there is an important lesson we can take from this story.
Not everything we see, especially something mysterious or extraordinary, necessarily needs to be immediately revealed to everyone.
Perhaps the people who regularly attended that mosque stopped going there after hearing about the incident.
Perhaps the story created fear among the villagers.
We simply do not know.
And we also have to remember the condition Farid was in at that moment.
He had been terrified.
His senses may not have been functioning normally.
In such a situation, a person may not be able to think clearly.
He may not know what to say, what not to say, or what decision to make.
May Allah grant us the mental strength and wisdom to remain calm during frightening situations.
May Allah protect us from sudden dangers, unseen harm, and every kind of hardship.
And may Allah grant us the ability to understand what is right and what is best for us.
Dear listeners,
If you have experienced something unusual, mysterious, or frightening yourself, don't forget to send your story to us.
You can send your incident either in written form or as a voice recording through email.
Until then...
Stay safe.
And remember—
Sometimes, the most frightening encounters happen...
before the world even wakes up.
